Happy Birthday America 250:
What a birthday party this has been. Is it me, or did this 4th of July feel different? Was it because of it being 250 years? Or maybe because of the big celebration that the president setup up in Washington? Maybe it was because the FIFA World Cup has brought so many players, visitors, and attention to the United States. Eleven cities across this great country have been able to showcase their area and traditions. Everywhere Miami to Seattle, have had the honor of hosting games and showing what America is like.
From the clips I have seen from the foreign teams trying everything from chicken and waffles in Atlanta, to trying Texas BBQ in Dallas are just wonderful. The amazement in their eyes and the expression on their faces is wonderful. They have sampled our regional food, and of course made the trips to Walmart and Costco, which as one put it, he didn’t think a place like this (Walmart) ever existed. So many things we take for granted, they find amazing. Things we take for granted that cannot be found in other countries. Ample food, shopping for whatever you want, whenever you want. And of course, the most important thing, speak what you want, without fear of the government coming and putting you in jail, or worse.
The statement that is country is made up of immigrants, is totally true. This is what makes us, us. But how we got to this point was NOT open borders with no accountability. We had rules for becoming citizens, still do, much as the DSA party wants to make them go away. With citizenship comes benefits, and rights, not afforded to non-citizens.
What a country we have, so proud to be an American, and what we have become in just 250 short years.
Yet there are those working to destroy this country from the inside. Those that want to take it from a democracy to a socialists/communist country. Hasan Piker, Melat Kiros, are just two examples of new DSA members that are gathering traction.
Is this shift in the democratic party to the far-left DSA just a flash in the pan or is it a movement that will take over the Democratic party.
Only time will tell.
