Happy Memorial Day To All.
This Memorial Day weekend was a different than I am sure everyone had planned. It does not matter what part of the country you are from, or what your political leanings are it was just plain different. No Indy 500 race. No tribute to all veterans in Washington. We even felt guilty if we had a cookout and had some friends over, things just felt out of wack.
However I was able to sit around my niece’s pool and take stock of how blessed I really am. I was totally surrounded by people I consider heroes. I have a brother in-law who was in Vietnam, and Nephew who was in the Navy, and his youngest son is following in his foot steps. My son in-law is a Marine, and his father is a Marine, remember once a Marine, always a Marine. My dad and two uncles served in WWII. I have also been truly blessed to be able to help with the Greater Peoria Honor Flight. This by far has been one of the most rewarding and totally humbling experiences ever. To see these men and women from the Military from WWII up to Desert Storm get on the airplane with their escort and the experience they will have is unreal, and for many this was closure, and for some it will be a release. For all who are involved especially for when they come back, there is not a dry eye anywhere and the pride and respect for these Veterans is overwhelming.
For all of those who have served an are serving in all branches of the service in all corners of the world, we say thank you and we are blessed for your service, and may you be blessed. For those families who are home celebrating this day without your Military member, we thank you, we pray for you, and we will hold you hand. You are hero’s as well, and we are so proud of you.
it does not matter if you are red or blue, or what your skin color is or your religious beliefs are, on this Memorial Day we all will give thanks and prayers for all of those who have served and are serving, may God bless them.
As always we are blessed with today, and tomorrow is a new day.
